Talking Italian...

Posted by Janice Bruce-Brand on Saturday, November 27, 2010, In : RESTAURANTS

We love Italian food.  Actually, we love any food, but a couple of weeks ago we were in the mood for some Italian, so we popped across the river to Jamie's Italian at Canary Wharf for a spot of lunch.

We arrived just after 1pm and the place was packed.  By the looks of things, Jamie's has become a daily fix for hundreds of corporate junkies.  We were lucky enough to get a table straight away, which is a good thing, because I was starving (and I get real grumpy when I'm hungry...)

Although the...

Palate Pleasing Prague...

Posted by Janice Bruce-Brand on Sunday, November 21, 2010, In : RESTAURANTS

I just love birthdays - and better yet, I love surprises!  Richard surprised me for my birthday in October and whisked me off to Prague for a jam-packed weekend of fun, food, culture and architecture...

I last explored the myriad of Prague's twisted streets back in 1998 - it was truly wonderful going back again and seeing how much has changed, and just how much still remains the same.  Richard and I both agree that the city is much "neater" today as many of the old buildings that were in a te...

Chunky Chowder

Posted by Janice Bruce-Brand on Thursday, November 11, 2010, In : RECIPES

I absolutely love decent corn chowder, and with the unfriendly cold weather of late, a bowl of hot soup makes you feel good from the inside.  My friend Ev in Knysna makes fabulous chowder – here is my colourful chunky version, it’s so easy and so tasty, I had to share my recipe with you. (For a meat free alternative - leave out the chicken & ham, and use veggie stock instead.)

1 large potato, peeled & cubed
1 onion, finely chopped
2 leeks, sliced thinly
3 c...

Lazy Sunday Brunch at The Table

Posted by Janice Bruce-Brand on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, In : RESTAURANTS

There is nothing better than a lazy Sunday morning lie-in, followed by a satisfying late breakfast/ early lunch - commonly known as brunch!  Have you ever wondered what you call the "blending" of two words, i.e. motor + hotel = motel, or my favourite chuckle + snort = chortle.  Well, the linguistic term for the above is portmanteau. (English lesson over, lets get to the grub...)

We have found a fabulous little spot to relax while enjoying a spectacular brunch - "The Table" is just a hop, skip ...

Just Married & Living the good life in London

Janice Bruce-Brand Hi, I'm Janice. I am not a chef, and I am not a photographer - but I love cooking, eating and taking photographs. My mother is a great cook and this is probably where my love for food began. A few years ago, she opened up her own little restaurant in the quaint farming hamlet where I spent roughly 20 years of my youth! By creating this blog, I hope to share with you my curiosity for just about everything in life that relates to food. Those who know me are aware of just how much I love to document my trips and travels. I hope you'll join me for the ride... I promise to keep you suitably entertained (and perhaps even drooling at times!)
